Oluchi’s Salon | Joyful Designs®️Studio - Week V One Room Challenge Fall 2021
Do you follow us on Instagram? If you do then you know we came straight from High Point Market last Tuesday and hit the ground running trying to complete our One Room Challenge™️ spaces. Better Homes and Gardens is the media sponsor for this year’s challenge.
There’s so much to do and so little time remaining. Shipping delays are rampant so we are trying to develop some work arounds for these spaces. Here's the latest.
GEORGIA | BEDROOM SUITE UPDATE
__________________________________________________________________________________
Our Georgia project is looking promising but we still do not have a bed frame. But, we do have some wallpaper (not all but enough for 3 walls). We did the wallpaper installation ourselves, which was a little tricky because of the ornate trim in the space. But we are happy with the results. Take a look:

The wallpaper was sourced from one of our sponsors - FABRICUT in Chicago. I so love that they have a showroom in the city for all of our design needs from fabric, wallpaper, window treatments and upholstery. This particular paper is called ”Serpent” by The Vale London, in color way Haze.
As I was saying, if you follow us over on Instagram, I gave some live views of the wallpaper installation and how it totally changed the emotional arc of the space when juxtaposed against the rich jewel tones of the ceiling. But I also gave a sneak peek of the roman shades we had made for the 3 extra large windows in the room. The pattern play made me love the shade fabric even more. The pattern is called ”Treasure Hunt.” I chose a golden bronze colorway. I love embroidered fabric so I was immediately drawn to it. It’s an S. Harris fabric that I sourced through FABRICUT.

We have two layers of window treatments going onto the windows and we are now waiting for the CALICO Linen blend pinch pleated drapes in white (but, it's looking unlikely that the drapes will arrive in time so let's keep our fingers crossed). We are hoping that they arrive at our workroom this week or beginning of next so we can have the STROHEIM trim from FABRICUT added to the edges. I chose a pattern called ”Diakat” in color way saffron.

We are really excited about the Quick Ship drapes from CALICO because we know they will add yet another dimension to the space. Their Quick Ship program also includes drapery rods and rings. We were happy to see that these arrived this week. We selected the Bent Arm rods in Champagne color, which will be perfect for the space.

While the ceiling of the room will be in high gloss finish, we toned that down some for the closet but continued the color.

We are waiting on one additional wallpaper pattern for this space and then we will start adding crown molding and lighting, which will be layered. Our partners at HUDSON VALLEY LIGHTING is providing all of the lighting in the space and we couldn’t have asked for a better line up of lights, like this plaster masterpiece called "Vine."

CHICAGO | OFFICE UPDATE __________________________________________________________________________________
We’ve also been sharing updates from the Chicago project on IG Stories. If you missed them, they are all saved to the ORC Fall ’21 Highlight tab on our Instagram profile. We are working on painting the space you saw last week. We should have that done this week. We are also waiting on the custom desk and a few ottomans. Here’s a picture of the bold roman shade we had our work room make for the space. The fabric is an S. Harris fabric called Delfina Rhodolite, sourced from FABRICUT.
We also installed some simple trim on the walls for added depth and prepped the space for a drastic make over with paint. I’m always drawn to a space that emotes and whether you love it or hate it, it will do that times 10.

This light will be replaced with something we customized from BLUEPRINT LIGHTING. we have loved loved loved their lighting for a while so we are thrilled to be able to partner with them on a mash up with bespoke lighting that incorporates shades from the CATALONIA and the CAMPANA chandeliers. We received it and needless to say it’s gorgeous. We specified three colors - Carob (fig brown), Wisteria (lilac), and Vineyard (deep fuschia). The metal is a brushed brass. Here’s a sneak peek:

The inspiration for this office is based on a piece of art I acquired last year. It is the first of a 10 print edition by Shawn Theodore entitled ”The Salon of Oluchi Oneya and Leenos The Forgiving.” It is stunning.

Yeah. So brace yourselves. This won’t be a colorless room.
